No More Hunger or Thirst

In this post Halloween week, I have witnessed the effects of too much candy on a number of my students. I have seen kids with lunch kits filled with large amounts of sweets and kids comments about how they ate candy for breakfast. All of this leads to students who function at less than their full capacity.

What we fuel our bodies with is critical for our well-being. Our bodies are so intricately created by our Heavenly Father. It amazes me how each part intertwines with another and works in seamless function to keep our bodies going. This can go awry though when we do not nourish our bodies properly.

In this life we are continually seeking ways to feed the hunger and thirst that impacts us daily. It is hard to think of those things not being a focus in our lives.

Yet, in heaven, it will all be different. The Apostle John shares these words in the book of Revelation:

Can you imagine being in a place where our physical needs are not an issue? How wonderful it will be to be in the presence of our Loving Shepherd, Jesus himself. There will be no elements to challenge us. Instead worship and praise will be the norm and we will bask in the light of our Saviour’s presence.

These verses refer again to living water – the same living water that Jesus spoke about to the Samaritan woman in the Gospel of John. Jesus promises an abundant life with Him forever, if we believe in Him as Lord and Saviour.

In times of great fatigue or trial, we sometimes lose sight of this precious living water. Yet, we need to keep it in the forefront of our minds. We are talking about the living water that Christ gives us refreshing us for eternity. It is there, waiting for us. It comes from the fountain that never runs dry.

We have so much to hope for as we consider these words from John in Revelation. In heaven, we will no longer be spiritually hungry or thirsty. We will have complete relief from the trials of this world and be able to bask in the light of our Lord for eternity.

As we traverse this life and work at providing for our basic needs each day, we can get disheartened. We can, however, look to the future with expectancy if we trust in God’s promise of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Take heart, dear friend. Our Lord walks with you, each and every day. He has glorious things planned for those who believe in Him. I pray that you will take hold of God’s promises. Let them wash over you and nourish you as you face each day.
